Pr. Joseph C C Testimony

I was a Roman Catholic
It was in the year 1969, my daughter died in my hands ,on the fourth day after we arrived home at Kerala. I had to carry the body of our daughter alone for about four hours.
No one was with me, that night, and I had to walk a long way alone to reach home.
During that few hours I asked many questions to my God.
I could not cry even, on the way to home, or at home, as my wife is a Bengali and did not know Malayalam, and no one was there at home to talk to her in a language which she can understand except me.
That one week I read the Bible, a Catholic Bible, translated by Manni Kathanar, a very good Bible, which I wanted to take with me, but my parents did not allow.
And after a week, me and my wife went back to Calcutta, but I was troubled, and wanted to have a Bible to read.
After almost a year, one Friday afternoon, after my office work, I went to the Bible Society Building at Chowrangee Road to buy a Bible. But I could not get a Bible , which I wanted.
I was walking back to home, through Park street. When I passed the St.Xaviers College, all of a sudden a THUNDER STORM AND RAIN STARTED. I ran for a shelter.
Some people were standing there. They smiled at me, one young man ushered me inside a building.
I went in only because I needed a shelter to save my life, I had no idea what was happening there.
But as soon as I entered the hall (the SDA Church at 36 Park Street) I heard a beautiful song, “Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine “ which forced me to sit quietly.
It was still raining, so I could not go out. Then the Preachers start Preaching, in English and was translated into Bengali.
Almost all the Questions I had was answered, from the Bible. More than that a Bible was given to me to refer, (they announced the page numbers too). That was the most meaningful time I had in my life first time.
At the end of the meeting I requested, to take the Bible home. They agreed on a condition that I would attend the meeting next day with the Bible.
The next day was Saturday. As my office work was five days a week, and Saturday was a holiday, I took my wife and my Mother-in-law with me to attend the meeting. We attended on the Sunday too.
From Monday I came from my Office directly and my wife and her mother came from home.
We attended the meetings for almost FORTY DAYS.
Our Catholic Priest could not answer my questions
We started keeping the Sabbath. and stop going to the Catholic Church on Sunday.
After maybe a month, we decided to take Baptism.
Me and my wife with our small baby (now Dr. Thomas) of few months old, got a Rickshaw in Calcutta (Kolkata) and was going to The Church.
But the rain started and It became impossible for the Rickshaw to move. We got down and walked to The Church. When we reached the Church we were completely drenched.
But the Brothers and Sisters near the Church were so Kind and Loving.
When I told them that we came for BAPTISM, they were very happy, which made us more joyful.
Some of them took care of our Baby .
Pr. W G Jenson and Pr.ND Roy baptised us.
