JACKSON BARNGETUNY

My name is Jackson; I was born to the Salvation Army family,

30 kilometers from Eldoret town, in Kenya.

My remarkable story

I remember one Sabbath morning I went to Spicer church without breakfast, nor did I have money to buy lunch.  I did not know whom to turn to.

That afternoon, I climbed a hill which is in the  University of Pune,

University of Pune

on top of that the hill I prayed to God,  "I am on this foreign hill oh God, without a friend, food.

and out of college because of lack of money, I don't know where the money will come from,

but YOU know.

I don't have food, and I don't know where food will come from, but you know,

I don't have a ticket back to my country, and I don't know where ticket money will come from,

but you know."

When I opened my email that evening, in my friend’s house, I found an email from  an American missionary in Philippines Institute of Advance Studies (AIIAS), copy to the president of Spicer college of support to complete my studies.

Praise God

That day God answered my prayer

Flashback

My introduction to Sabbath-keeping SDA church was through my Elder brother Zephaniah, who attended SDA Crusade of the neighboring church of Sochoi.

As we were playing, he started talking about the importance of sabbath keeping.  He was convinced from Exodus 20:8-11, this caused a challenge to my attendance at the Sunday  Salvation Army church as I began to attend seventh-day church sochoi.

I joined the happy class of SDA church sochoi and learned a lot about the Seventh-day Adventist church and The character of God and received baptism by immersion ten years later.

After completing his primary education, I joined Secondary school and High school for his O and A level education from 1977 to 1989.

 In June 1996, I went to Spicer Memorial College for Business administration degree;

Spicer Memorial College Ad Building

during this time, I went through difficult times of raising tuition and accommodation fees. Actually, I was out of school for two years and in the foreign country of India.

I wrote an email to the Secretary, of Southern Asia Division, then headed by the Late Dorothy Watts, and  I was recruited as a volunteer where I served in Goa/West region among the SIDDIS ( Indians of African descent),  for two years, serving as a volunteer.

I earned stipend which was sufficient to buy food supplies only  but could not raise fees to continue with my studies or a ticket back to my country.

When volunteer service came to an end, I went back to Spicer and stayed in a friend's house for two months. When the friend realized I did not have money to buy food or fees to continue with my studies, he gave me the notice to vacate his house.

But God wrought a miracle and answered my prayer (as written above)

I tell everyone, it was a privilege for me to attend Spicer Adventist University, because its there that God answered my memorable prayer.

The same God who answered my prayer is able to answer a prayer and save anybody during difficulty for His glory.

Amen!
